I really thought I would blog a lot more during this past school year. It was my first year piloting a new grading system in my school, and I was eager to share how it was going and get feedback. But every time I sat down to a new post it just felt too fresh. I didn't feel like I had any perspective on it yet. Besides, I'm always worried that blogging about something that just happened in class can make certain events or students too identifiable in a public blog. So I didn't write.
Now it's summer and, having seen the whole system through the cycle of one academic year, I feel like I can begin to reflect and revise. I've got a lot a lot a lot of topics floating around in my head and I look forward to writing about them.
For now, here are the course objectives I've been working with so far. They are strictly content objectives, so two of my goals this summer are to explain the evidence required to master each objective and to add skill objectives from my department's list of essential science skills.
Thanks for posting your course objectives and essential skills lists! From time to time, folks on Twitter ask for sample standard lists. I'll be pointing them your way in the future!
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt, I'm more than happy to share them.
DeleteI'd love to hear more about how SBG went for you. Several teachers in our district are embarking on this quest, and it would be great to learn from you.
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of ideas for posts lined up!
